Visual art of five Finnish artists
Exhibiting artists:
Nina Backman
Ulrika Ferm
Ola Kolehmainen
Jukka Korkeila and
Mirka Raito
Curator: Professor Mika Hannula, Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki
The exhibits range on a continuum of identity (Nina Backman’s photo
series with women from her family and Jukka Korkeila’s drawings with
representations of nascent sexuality) and existence strategies (Ulrika
Ferm’s photographs which allow contemplation on the significance of
place and situation, Ola Kolehmainen’s photographs with accentuated
details of architectonic surfaces and Mirka Raito’s very individual and
intimate paintings).
Another unifying factor is, most of all, the desire to do a group
exhibition together – with the aim of creating a challenging and amusing
visual whole which is hopefully more than just the sum of its parts.
