The work of the Finnish designer Eero Aarnio is the theme of a comprehensive exhibition in the Felleshus (Pan Nordic Building) of the Nordic Embassies in Berlin from 8 November 2007 to 4 January 2008. The Eero Aarnio Retrospective, organised by the Kunsthalle Helsinki, invites the public not only to view Aarnio's fantastic creations but also to try them out!
Besides the futuristic fibreglass and plastic chairs such as the Ball Chair and the Pastil Chair, which revolutionised furniture design in the 1960s, other key pieces are on view showcasing the versatility of Eero Aarnio in his 40-year career as a designer. In addition to the "pop" furniture pieces, made famous by numerous films and design magazines, more recent and lesser known designs of Aarnio are included in the exhibition.
The international career of Aarnio began at the International Furniture Fair in Cologne in 1966, where the Ball Chair was exhibited for the first time.
