attention at the latest in the 1990ies.
The way of observing strange occurrences, the herein conveyed
attitude towards life, a love for weird protagonists, the contrast
between municipal and rural life in, from our point of view, offensive
nature - all of this makes the films appear special, at times almost
surreal.
For the first time, the ICELAND::FILM exhibition
traces the development of Icelandic film-making from its origins around
1904 to this day in a chronological multimedia visualisation. "Film
islands" integrated into the exhibition architecture allow deeper
insight into the different genres of feature film, literature
adaptation, short film and documentary.
Five days in March entitled EYESLAND will introduce to a broad range of contemporary and historical Icelandic film-making.
