When the photographs of the development of a child in the womb were published for the first time in 1965, they created a sensation. Now the Swedish Embassy in Berlin is showing these groundbreaking photos of the human embryo by the master photographer.
Many of the images from Lennart Nilsson's world-famous photo
series have previously only been shown in the Stockholm Museum of Photography. The exhibition »A Child Is Born« takes the viewer on a unique and fascinating journey to the origin of life.

Lennart Nilsson began his photographic work on this subject in 1953. Twelve years later, in 1965, his photographs were published in LIFE Magazine. The entire edition sold out within only a few days. The book »A Child Is Born« with the photographs of Lennart Nilsson is still a bestseller today, currently in the edition of 2009.
The Swedish Embassy has organized a program to accompany the exhibition entitled
A Close-Up Look at Life with numerous events, including workshops, panel discussions and seminars.
