This autumn Iceland will be Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The current Icelandic exhibition here in the Felleshus offers a first look.

What role does Iceland’s great heritage play in books being written today? The journalist Pétur Blöndal interviewed contemporary Icelandic authors, asking them how their work related to Iceland’s (literary) tradition. From their answers a panorama of poetological reflections and stories was formed, to which Kristinn Ingvarsson has added the authors’ portraits. Thus, in a double sense, the exhibition shows » views « of Icelandic contemporary literature and its most important representatives.

Among the authors highlighted in this exhibition are Andri Snær Magnason, Arnaldur Indriðason, Einar Kárason, Einar Már Guðmundsson, Gyrðir Elíasson, Hallgrímur Helgason, Sjón, Kristín Marja Baldursdóttir, Kristín Steinsdóttir and Steinunn Sigurðardóttir.
